Our favourite high protein snacks

June 23, 2017

As our name suggest, we enjoy eating snacks that are high in protein and big on flavour. We’ve found that high protein snacks are becoming more and more popular, not just with fitness enthusiasts, but with people who are looking for a healthy alternative to crisps or chocolate. Most of the high protein snacks that we love are convenient to eat if you’re always on the go, as we know a lot of our customers are. So we thought we’d put together a list of delicious protein snacks that you lovely lot may want to try.

  1. Pro-Yo yoghurt

The new Pro-Yo yoghurt from The Collective Dairy is packed with more protein than two eggs and less sugar than an apple. This delicious yoghurt comes in a handy pouch for snacking on the go, but we enjoy using it in our breakfast smoothie bowls. Because we love it so much, we’ll be coming up with some smoothie bowl recipes featuring Pro-Yo yoghurt. But for now, Pumpkin ‘n’ Spice blog has a great Raspberry and Almond Butter smoothie bowl recipe for you try out using The Collective Dairy’s awesome new product in place of the vanilla Greek yoghurt.

  1. Whey Hey ice cream

Another brand we truly love is Whey Hey protein ice cream. And how fitting now that the summer is here that we mention them! The guys at Whey Hey have four super tasty flavours - Banoffee, Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. We actually struggle to choose which is our favourite! For those of you who don’t know, whey protein is actually a by-product of the cheese making process. It’s 100% natural and easily digested, so great to eat after a workout. We use whey protein in our Peanut Butter, Cacao + Orange and Coconut + Macadamia protein balls which make the perfect topping for your Whey Hey ice cream on a hot summer’s day.

  1. Coconut Collaborative

A brand that has eye catching branding like us is the Coconut Collaborative. Their colourful palm tree packaging and tropical taste transports us to an exotic island somewhere. Their luscious yoghurt is made from the milk of the coconut and is free from dairy, soya, and gluten. Bursting with nutrients, they have four glorious flavours to give you those holiday vibes; Natural, Strawberry, Mango & Passionfruit and Blueberry. Again we love using their yoghurt in our breakfast smoothie bowls and will be coming up with a few recipes soon.

  1. Rude Health

What’s not to love about Rude Health and their great selection of healthy drinks?! Their drinks include Almond, Cashew, Hazelnut, Brown Rice, Coconut and Oat flavours which are all natural – nothing artificial, nothing refined. They source their ingredients from fields, orchards and vines and the small British company is run by a husband and wife team like us. Their drinks taste so good in smoothies and milkshakes and you know you’re getting some goodness in! We’ll be using our favourite flavours in some smoothies soon so watch this space for some delicious recipes from us.

  1. Be Tribe protein powders

We met the Be Tribe team at the Be:Fit London a few months ago and now we can’t get enough of their super blends plant based protein powders. Their product is made from 100% raw, organic plant based protein, superfoods and adaptogens. They have four different blends; Feel Boss, Fix Up, Get Wellthy and Glow On, each with their own health benefits. We have started using their protein and superfood blends to make some protein balls at home. We find the best formula to make energy/protein balls is to use; Nuts (such as almonds or cashews), Dried Fruits (such as cranberries or dates), Powders (such as maca or baobab), something sticky to bind the ingredients together (such as coconut oil or honey) and finally a coating to make it look pretty (such as cacao or chia seeds). If you’re making protein balls, you’ll need to add protein powder of course. And Be Tribe is a great one for vegan friendly protein. For more information on their products, visit their website here.
